Rand Paul Endorses Eric Brakey
AUBURN - Rand Paul, the Republican Senator from Kentucky and likely 2016 Presidential candidate, is endorsing Eric Brakey of Auburn in his campaign for the Maine State Senate.
"Today I endorse and offer my full support to Eric Brakey, a candidate for Maine's State Senate," writes Senator Paul. "As a proud defender of the constitution, Eric will fight to restore fiscal discipline, protect individual liberties and deliver real results for the people of Maine. I have full faith in Eric's ability to lead and hope you will join me in supporting him."
Brakey---who has raised more funds than every other legislative campaign in the state---is the first and only Maine legislative candidate to receive an endorsement from Senator Paul so far this election cycle.
"It is an incredible honor to receive Senator Paul's endorsement," says Brakey. "Rand Paul consistently stands up for common sense approaches to balance the budget and protect our civil liberties, even when this means standing against the special interest groups, the Washington elite, and members of his own party."
"The independent streak Senator Rand Paul has demonstrated in Washington DC---standing up for what is right, not what is popular---is something I will emulate as I lead in Augusta."
Eric Brakey of Auburn has five generations of family roots in New Gloucester. Brakey is a candidate for Maine Senate in District 20: Auburn, New Gloucester, Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls. He works for Brakey Energy, a family-run business that helps companies reduce their energy costs and become energy efficient.
